Art 1

It's February 2026. This months snail is a Crested Nembrotha or more colloquially known as a Cabbage Patch Sea Slug.

I don't know what to say. Everyday feels like a battle. I feel like a sore muscle or as if I'm attempting to catch a bubble and put it in my pocket (a totally useless way of appreciating life). I don't have any advice on how to deal with the pain of existence especially amidst chaos and an increasing police state under a fascist and corrupt government. The truth is not beautiful. In fact, reality may not be as beautiful as our fantasy will have us put it. So everyday feels like a slap in the face. The more you know right?

I've been reading Carl Sagan and find momentary comfort. And of course, in music and art. Perhaps, though, it is not comfort we seek for in art but a desire to feel seen too. For someone to just name it. “It” being an emotion, a force, an invisible psychic energy, a magnetic field, a demon or angel, a bully, the list goes on.

And a quote: “For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.” ―Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
